Just a thought...anyone who may be planning on making their hotel/flight arrangements please wait until further notice. Wedding plans have been put on hold indefinitely because of the impending storm.

Please pray for our families and their homes.

Posts may be few over the next few days. Katrina seems to have her eye set on New Orleans. Please pray for our families and friends there. Needless to say, Im sick with worry.

Yea! Its the weekend! "throw your shoes at the dog!" its the weekend. Is it me or has this just been an especially long week? Sometimes the work week feels like it is 5 years long instead of 5 days long. The good thing? There is a three day weekend just around the corner!

(sorry all you animal lovers out there its a running joke, I am not actually advocating violence!)

Let me start of by saying this post is about no one in particular, just a general observation from years of experience. Ok that said, I feel like I am a pretty tech savvy person. I know the risks that one takes getting on the internet. However, I have recently discovered how our younger generation has no regard for safety on the internet. They post on their blogs very personal information; full names, email addresses, location, school name, even phone numbers and personal addresses! I was shocked to find out that they don't see anything wrong with doing so. Do they not realize the danger? I guess its just the overprotective teacher/future mother in me that wants to protect them. Anyway, at the risk of listing specifics I'll stop before I start ranting and raving.!

Wedding planning just took a fun turn for the better. My groom-to-be and I have finally begun planning our honeymoon...to New York City! We thought this was a little out of reach until my dad offered to give us his hotel and airline points. We don't have to spend a dime on hotel/airfare! The hotel is right next to Times Square! Thanks, Dad!
So we are busily planning our days in New York. We have several things we want to visit; Ground Zero, Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, Bloomingdales (ok thats me), Rockefeller Center, etc. Best of all we should be able to get tickets to Wicked!!! I think Im almost the most excited about that one! It is going to be a jam packed week...but we are excited! Any other suggestions let me know!
Ive been there once before, hopefully I can remember how to get around on the subway! From what I remember its not that hard....

I made it! I made it through the first week of school! It was rough but fun in the end. I am very excited about this year. This whole second year teacher thing is great. All of my work is done. I just have to pull out the next day's lecture and run some copies and I am ready to go! Unlike last year where I had a guaranteed 2-3 hours of planning a night. Yeah, that was rough. Im sure once I start giving tests and assignments again Ill have some work to bring home, but that is bearable! Taking home work is part of being a teacher I guess! Well, unless you are a coach...but thats a whole different blog!

Wedding update!

I just picked up our invitations and they are perfect! They are goregeous and I love them! It is strange to finally see them. It is really the first tangible thing we have gotten for the wedding so far. Everything else is just a concept; reception, chapel, music, etc. But this is real! Now we just have to start addressing them...

Its the most wonderful time of the year! The first day of school!

This week has been exhausting and school technically hasn't even started yet! This week was move in and get settled week. Normally "move in" just means get settled and clean the room to get ready for the year. Well this year I really had to move. I had to move across campus and up a flight of stairs. Why not use the elevator? Simple our school is so old we don't have one! So each box had to be hand carried by yours truly! Thankfully I was able to get a group of kids to move the desk, file cabinet, etc. Now that it is over I am actually settled into my room and starting to get excited about school.

We have students show up tomorrow for orientation. I probably won't sleep tonight. Not because of nerves, but because I am excited! I love the first day of school. I especially new school supplies. I could spend my life savings at Office Depot and Target on school supplies alone!

Another fun thing about this year... I get a new computer and a new LCD projector for my classroom! I love having a high tech classroom. The stuff you can do is so much more fun than just a chalkboard. I wish my teachers would have had these things available when I was in school!

Welcome! Ok, so I have tried other blogging/online journals before and never really got into it. However, I was told I just HAD to try this one. So here goes! Bear with me as I enter into the new world of "blogging!"

Here are a few random thoughts for today!

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince - Phenomenal book! Although I saw the end coming at about page 100 it was still fascinating enough to keep me reading! The best book by far....wish the next one would hurry up and come out!

The Dukes of Hazzard - I was a little skeptical but still wanted to see it. I had a few encounters with the movie as it was being filmed around town so I couldn't wait to see the end result. It was definitely worth the hassle of standing in line with 25 year old line cutters. True story no joke...but that's another post! All in all, fun movie.

Wedding Plans - For anyone out there planning a wedding...one piece of advice hire someone do do the work for you. I am a borderline obsessive compulsive Miss Perfect and I thought my exceptional organizational skills would come in handy (no comments needed) and this thing would be a piece of cake. Well now as we are less than 90 days away I am starting to wish we had planned a trip to Vegas instead. Its just one thing after another. I just keep telling myself that at the end of all of this my fiance and I will be married and thats what counts. However, it doesn't always keep everything moving forward...

Wicked- Let me start by saying that I am a Wizard of Oz "purist" as my fiance dubbed me. I read the book Wicked this summer and was equally delighted and appalled by the book. At first the brazen comments and situations shocked me so much I didn't want to keep reading. Much different than the typical Dorothy and Toto story! As I kept reading I found the book to me much more enjoyable. It definitely makes you think! I then went and bought the soundtrack to the musical and fell in love with it. I definitely recommend the book and soundtrack!

Ok, enough rambling for today. Check back soon for more posts. School is starting soon so I probably have plenty of tales from the trenches!
