Just a thought....Its been a few hours since I left moms house, but I swear I can still smell the stench. I have taken a shower and doused on the perfume (sorry D and the other person who has to sit by me at the game tonight) but I swear I still smell like the house.

This whole experience has been about as much fun as camping....and I HATE camping!

Lather, Rinse, Repeat...

Today was a rough day. Mom and I went into Lakeview today to inspect her house. Words can't really describe what we saw. Imagine everything in your home turned every which way, furniture upside down, and everything wet and covered in mold and sludge. Thats a good start to what my mom's house looks like. It was disgusting. We could only stand a few hours there. The smell is like nothing else.

So after we got home and rinsed off the handful of salvagable items I came home and took the longest, hottest shower I could stand! Now I am just asking for it by going to the LSU game tonight. Why? I have no earthly idea. I must be a stupid Tiger fan!

Rita update - We have received word from D's family that there is a good chance that things may be ok/liveable back home. Things are probably bad but fixable. So just keep praying that things stay ok!

I can't wait for hurricane season to be over. I don't think my health can stand much more of this. We are only at Rita and we are supposed to see all the way to Wilma!

Ok. I know its been awhile, lets just say things are insane around here. Things were finally starting to settle down and then BAM! new freaking hurricane! We were just getting to understand what happened after Katrina (more on that in a minute) and now we have do deal with this!

Updates!
- We have finally gotten some idea of the extent of damage to my mom's house. Lets just say its not good. Her house was completely under water at one point. Now everything is covered in about 6 inches of sludge/mold. We can't find the cat. Basically everything is gone. Her house was in Lakeview, just a few blocks from the break in the 17th St. Canal.

- The wedding is on! Well at least if Rita doesnt interfere. Basically we got lucky and found a new church and reception hall. More details to come. Katrina took away everything else in the world she cant have my wedding! We did pick out our wedding bands today! That was fun!

- I know I dont talk about work but I quit color guard. Things just got out of control so I decided to take myself out of the equation. So now I have MORE time to stress about everything else.

- Rita. Too soon to say but we are worried about D's parents. They live in the Southwestern part of LA and will see the brunt of this storm. We will keep you updated!

I think that is it for now!
