Ok I realize its been quite a some time since the last post. But what can I say? Things have been busy. We are really making progress on mom's house. Can you believe that I learned how to pull sheetrock? I know hard to imagine. It was suprisingly easy. I guess it helps that it was still somewhat damp. Nonetheless, as mom says "its empowering." Not fun but empowering.

Speaking of New Orleans. I am appalled at the thought of running bus tours through the city. Maybe because those tours run right through my mom's neighborhood (I have yet to find out for sure but I think they ran right by her house). I am glad to see they were banned for "public safety reasons." Better that than keeping them running I guess. I just really don't see the point of having people pay money to tour the area. If they really want to see it then volunteer to help, send the money to help, something! Don't give it to bus companies! Bus tours are for sightseeing in Europe or New York cities. Places that are thriving, not places that look like war zones. Does the whole idea seem morbid to anyone else?? People DIED there. You can see it on the houses. We still have trouble going through the mounds of rubble in the house because you never know if you are going to find something dead or alive. (Frogs have been known to jump out of the most odd places!) I've been there, I've seen it, I've pulled my baby pictures, high school trophies, high school yearbooks (only to have to throw them away) out of the rubble. This is no place to have tours. Ok, I understand that no amount of pictures can give anyone the full effect but is a bus tour really the way to go? People I show pictures to still can't fully grasp it. Hell, sometimes I can't fully grasp it and I am LIVING it. As far as I know most of the rest of the country is still in denial. It happened and now its back to normal. Life in New Orleans will never be normal. I just know that I (and my family) will do all we can to help it to come alive again. At least my mom's neighborhood is not in sepia and white anymore. I swear the first time we went the world looked like and old movie, in sepia and white tones. Now the trees are trying to come back...and we are too.

On another note. Its good to be back at work. Its nice to have a regular schedule again. I spend too much money when I dont work...which is a dangerous thing. I think the husband is the same way!

Well unfortunately I have to run. Hercules is on tv! Fun movie! "Indoor plumbing...its gonna be huge!" ~ The Fates. That and the dog is crying because he can't reach his favorite toy. Poor thing its kinda cute to watch him try though!
